Mission/Purpose Statement

The Central Valley chapter of the Christian Legal Society is to aggregate the various talents, resources, experience and expertise of Christian attorneys in our community to serve Jesus Christ through the offering of legal aid services and to provide a venue to inspire, edify, encourage and equip other believers.

The Central Valley chapter of CLS is based on four components: service, edification, networking, and legal education.

Service

The primary service component of CVCLS will be to offer opportunities for Christian attorneys to provide legal aid and/or pro bono services to underserved communities, churches and community organizations. This will be done by way of partnerships with community groups such as ENP and the Fresno Rescue Mission that provide a population of individuals in need of legal assistance. Examples of legal aid include, providing informal legal advice at community events or other gatherings, accepting formal individual representation of indigent clients, offering classes to various church and legal organizations, producing publications on relevant legal topics, etc.

Edification

Apart from the services component offered by CVCLS, it also offers a venue where Christian attorneys can gather to be inspired and encouraged through the word of God and the fellowship of other Christians. This will be accomplished at our regularly scheduled meeting as well as through other community events.

Networking

In the furtherance of the Christian mission, CVCLS will establish a network of Christian attorneys in the Central Valley to create referral resources both for the community and other attorneys.

Legal Education

CVCLS will offer meetings much in the same way as other legal organizations, during which educational opportunities will be offered focusing on topics pertinent to Christians in the legal field which qualify for CLE credits.
